Read through the description below of the Tesla Powerwall, a rechargeable . battery for your home that can be used to store solar power. Then, use the comment section to take notes on what you just read. As with other energy storage products, the Tesla Powerwall battery pack is sized for day-to-day use at your home, and is usually paired with a home solar panel system. When your solar panels produce more electricity than you can use in your home, the excess is stored in the battery pack instead of being sent back to your power company (PG &E). Later, when your solar panels aren’t producing enough electricity, you can use the electricity stored in your Powerwall battery instead of having to buy it from your power company.
Normally, this process happens over the course of a day: when the sun is high in the sky and your solar panels are producing more electricity than you can use, the extra energy is stored in your Tesla Powerwall battery. As the sun goes down and your solar panel production decreases, you use the electricity that you stored during the sunniest part of the day. Basically, the Powerwall helps you balance out your electricity production and usage over the course of the day. *Taken from energysage.com

I believe that it doesn't really help because you can store the energy in your solar panels until they need to be used when it's dark. I also think it would not help people because at night, that is when you use light the most, and also, the giant battery might take up the whole back yard, so the kids can't play or go swimming.

If you search you "Tesla" you'll find that it's actually not that big. Also, it's useful if there isn't sun or it's to dark for any solar power.

I read that solar energy is stored in a Powerwall battery during the day and the power decreases when daylight fades away.

Yes, Tessa. We will have more things like that too. But I wanted the class to practice taking notes on informational text, and this was a good way to do that.

Not trying to be that person, but installing the battery will cost a lot, not to mention the fees and taxs. I read something on the web saying in total, it could cost $5,000 to $8,000. Not saying that information is correct, it still does have a point. And...when does this passage talk about the cost? This is a question, not me trying to be rude.

The solar panel give electricity to both the house and to the Tesla Power-wall, which is useful, because at night their is no sun so the Tesla Power-wall give the house some of the energy it has.
