In the Central Valley, we are in a prolonged drought and have had a tremendous shortage of rain. Now that it is the rainy season again, we have water coming from the sky that could be used, if we could only gather and save it. What inexpensive way can you think of to gather, store and be able to use the rain water.
When answering, suggest new and creative ideas and be sure to consider: keeping the water fresh for months at a time, mosquitoes, how much water is needed to water plants for one month, how much water would actually make an impact on a typical household?

An idea I came up with for saving water is to put about 10 buckets outside, then, when it stops raining, I can carry the buckets somewhere in the back yard, and when I want to plant a flower or something like that, I can use the buckets of water to feed them, and put it out in the sun.

What people can do to keep a lot of water is by putting them in big jugs so that when there is a drout they can put it in a jug
